Ayuthaya................about an hour and a half by train north of Bangkok. It was a heap of fun because this is where I learned to drive a moto (motorcycle) in traffic (it's legal for tourist to drive without a license but not for the natives.....now who would get in the most accidents???). Felt great to get out of the big city of Bangkok and get some fresh air.
The most photographed tree in Thailand. It is a statue that a tree engulfed in it's roots.
See the picture of the king and the royal crown on the left? Seeing the king's picture was common in the streets, not just outside temples. Yep...the people really do worship the king (see Bangkok). Also, check out the temple (they all look alike in this area).
The old Ayuthaya ruins. The city was once the capital of the country. That Buddha on the lower left is about two stories high.
yumm.....supper
Well must say something about Chang Mai. Most people come and end up staying here for weeks, sometimes forever. There is a lot to do here as the town caters to tourism well. I took a cooking class and a friend took a message course.
Forget what these are called, but they taste pretty plain with a touch of sourness like a grape fruit.
Yumm! What a nutritious snack!!! Frogs! Eww!!
A member of a northern tribe. In her tribe, they believe the longer the neck (the rings just push down on their shoulders making the neck appear long) the prettier. They make a lot of money dressing traditionally and selling souvenirs.
